Follow your combo!
I’ll be completely honest with you - I had no idea what to write about this week. It’s safe to say I suffered a mild short-term writer’s block. Definitely not due to lack of information or ideas, but simply because hundreds of possible topics passed through my mind. From other fashion styles (following last week’s article) through fashion week recaps and celebrity style (including a possible Met Gala recap) to my definition of business casual or how to master fashion while traveling or even an ode to jewelry (you can expect them all to pop in the blog at a certain point). But casually browsing through my Instagram I realized I want to write about combos. My favorite combinations of materials, styles or colors, rated from number 20 to number 1.
So let's go straight to the point - here come my combo ideas:
20: Jeans+high heels
What can I
say, they look hot together! This is definitely not an unusual combination, but
since a lot of people consider high heels more formal (or even strict) I figured out
this might count as a style mixture. I’m generally a huge fan of formal attire
and a 100% jeans lover. (Notes on the side: I consider one of the toughest
questions in the world “If you are left with one item only in your wardrobe
what would it be – little black dress or the perfect pair of jeans?”) So mixing
both makes a nice and feminine yet comfy at the same time look anf that's enough for me.
Picture
perfect: High-waisted
skinny jeans and black heels – fitted for everything from 9 to 5 at the office
to a wild night out.
19: Suede+wooden
jewelry
Call it
whatever you want – boho, rustic, natural – this look is simply mesmerizing.
These two fit so perfectly it’s hard to imagine them apart. It’s cute,
comfortable, chic and so gorgeously non-urban. Both suede and wood creates that
organic connection with nature and it looks so pure and down to earth. The
colors also help to enforce that feeling. Other hand-made items (since wooden
jewelry is almost always hand-made) are always welcome to finish the look and
make it even more bohemian.

perfect: Brown
fringed top/dress/skirt with wooden necklace and earrings – so Pocahontas!
18: Double the dresses
Dress+
dress= match made in Heaven! Seriously, if you have a dress with a zipper that
can easily be transformed in an overcoat don’t hesitate to experiment! My
personal experience with such transformations has proved it works magically. Basically
every dress fits perfectly with a trench or an overcoat but when that said item
is practically another dress you reach a whole new level of uniqueness and
fashion-forwardness (and to be honest sexiness, too).
Picture
perfect: A silk or satin dress with a leather dress-turned-overcoat (in two
different colors, preferably).
17: Top + shirt
Who hasn’t tried
this one? It’s one of the oldest tricks
in the book of fashion but as such this
combination never goes out of
style. It’s simple yet elegant solution that suits various occasions. Besides
it’s a perfect option for unstable weather situations when it switches from cold
to hot and vice versa every 10 minutes. This combo goes hand in hand with jeans,
with shorts to the beach, with a pen skirt at a cocktail. And as it’s carefree
and sexy at the same time it is always a perfect choice for a date night, too.
Picture
perfect: Shirt with
animalistic print and a sheer black top - suitable for every evening occasion.
16: Dress + scarf
Scarfs match
perfectly with everything – that’s a
fact. But to use a scarf as a cover – that’s
new level. During the summer I love wearing one in my bag just in case I end up staying out until late. Scarfs not only make the best cardigans but
they also look totally stylish no matter how you tie them. They
come in all colors and prints and give you the opportunity to be
creative and shape them as you wish, which is a huge plus for me. This combo is feminine, relaxed and subtly
glamorous!
Picture
perfect: Little black
dress with a floral silk scarf – magic on the go!
15: Suede+denim
As casual
as it could possibly get – this combo is comfortable, relaxed and laid back. It
looks sporty and nature inspired at the same time. In earthly colors (blue
denim and brown suede) it steals the
show with organicness. These two are also a pretty good option for every boho
chic lover out there. I love combining them particularly in the autumn
because they fit the season so well – fall in love (with the clothes), indeed.

perfect: A fringed brown
suede top/jacket with light denim skinny jeans - naturally glamorous!
14: Jumpsuit+ cardigan
Jumpsuits,
according to what I’ve seen so far, are a tricky item. They made a serious comeback
in the last few years and ever since it’s been a question of what to combine
them with. Instead of a classic jacket I suggest going for a cardigan. It looks
more mature and sweet at the same time. Depending on the color of the latter you can channel everything
with this look - from femme fatale to 90s kid. Also it looks super casual and relaxed yet it’s
subtly stylish at the same time.
Picture
perfect: A fitted
black or navy jumpsuit with oversized cardigan in a bright color - fun and trendy!
13: Dress+vest/cardigan
Perfect
combo for all kinds of dresses – short or long, casual or formal, floral or in
animalistic pattern, checkered or striped.
Vest + dress = the perfect match for the summertime. Dress + cardigan,
however, is a more fall/ winter related option. I highly recommend denim vests for
the first combo – they bring casual and down-to-earth shade to the overall feminine
look that dresses tend to create. The cardigan combination, on the other hand, looks
generally more mature and tender. But it’s undeniable fact that both of them look (and feel)
incredibly comfortable.
Picture
perfect: A long floral summer dress with a
denim vest - gorgeous and feminine to the core!
12: Shorts/ mini
skirt+long sleeves
I simply
love this one! At first sight they look uncombinable – after all they are
associated with different seasons. But a long blazer (sleeves and all) with a
mini skirt looks so gorgeous it hurts. Sexy and somehow bossy at the same
time, this magical mixture between the formal and the casual will certainly
make you the show stopper wherever you go. Another too cute for words option is a long-sleeved
blouse with denim shorts – relaxed, laid back and hot all at once.
Picture
perfect: Long-sleeved
crop top and denim shorts – this gives
the word alluring a whole new meaning!
11: Crop top+denim
How can you
possibly get more 90s than that? I admit it - as a 90s kid I’ve grown up looking
at celebrities dressing like that (and therefore loving and admiring this combo).
Whether you choose jeans or shorts this mixture is undeniably sweet, fun and
sexy. It’s suitable for various occasions - a beach party, a night out, a date night.
Picture
perfect: Checkered
or plain white crop top with dark denim jeans – when less is actually more!
10: Dress+top/sweater
The magical
thing about dresses is that they can be combined
with so much items (despite the fact
that seem uncombinable at first sight). You can put a sweater on top and look
stylish and fashion-forward. Or you can tie a sweater around your neck and get that
relaxed and stylish out of the magazine look. Or if you have one of this
gorgeous dresses that can be styled in more than one way you can actually wear
the dress as a high-waisted skirt and combine it with a top. Bottom line –
dresses channel the inner designer in you because
they provide a lot of combo options for the wearer. At the same time a dress-based look is always feminine, cute and
fabulous.
Picture perfect: Leather dress with classic sweater
in black, gold or silver – simply sophisticated!
9: High waist+blazer
This combo
is perfect for the office - whether you choose to go business casual or into the
strictly formal direction, this mixture always looks incredibly stylish and elegant. High-waisted
pen skirt with a blazer fit so gorgeous and will make you a total hit at every
corporate event. High-waisted jeans
and blazer, on the other hand, brings quite sophistication to the comfortable casual look. And as far as the
silhoette itself is concerned – this is absolutely the most figure-flattering one
in my opinion and I absolutely love it for that.
Picture
perfect: Black
high-waisted pen skirt with a navy double-breasted blazer (and possible a white
skirt) - formal and elegant by all
means!
8: As many necklaces
and bracelets as possible
When it
comes to jewelry in my everyday life I prefer the motto “Less is more!”. But if
we take into consideration the fact that certain occasions require stand out
details, than the jewelry combos are definitely the way to go! Especially when
it comes to dressing in a bohemian way combining 2 or 3 bracelets at once can be the
key to a show stopping appearance. The same
option can be applied to the necklaces, combinig
2 different sizes. A great combo is also the mix of chocker and a second longer necklace. Another magical combination is
the mixture of several pieces from the
same type – works magically with precious
and semi- precious stones (including crystals).
Picture perfect: A suede chocker with a longer metal necklace, combined with
two/ three kwarz or mountain
crystals bracelets – but definitely go
for plain one-colored clothes; your
jewelry is the big star here!
7: Mixing bright
colors
What’s
not to love about about bright neon
colors! They surely can enforce every
look and bring fun to the outfit! Combing two or more of them however can be tricky. Personally I don’t hesitate to mix
two but to be honest combo of three (or
more) is way too bold for me. A brigh + bright can be great, especially during
the spring when everything is so colorful! My favorite color combos include blue +
yellow, pink + yellow, pink + purple, orange + green, red + yellow, red + blue
and red + green.
Picture
perfect: Pink dress
with yellow blazer, green jumpsuit with orange trench coat, red dress with blue
cardigan - they all make a stand-out appearance!
6: Jeans+formal blazer
I simply
love this one! It’s the perfect mixture of casual comfort and elegant sophistication.
This look has it all in one – it’s laid back, beautiful, stylish and shows
grace in more than one way. Fits perfectly
in the categories business casual or office dresscode. Looks also equally nice on
the runway and magazines’ covers. You can never go wrong
with combo like this because it brings the best of both worlds.
Picture
perfect: Double-breasted
black or navy blazer with high-waisted
jeans - when fashion is actually magic!
5: Jacket + furry vest
This is a
classic move. It has been on the
runway, in the magazines, in every woman’s
wardrobe for the past decade. It keeps you warm and trendy at the same time. Also it gives you that fabulous Hollywood glam feeling. If you want to bring
drama and look ultimately fashion-forward at the same time this is your combination! A huge plus is its coziness and it's pure perfestion for the cold late autumn/ early winter days.
Picture perfect: Black leather jacket with red furry vest - as classy
and glamorous as possible!
4: Knittwear+leather
This two mix just perfectly. They are
the ultimate boho trend in my opinion and look vert relaxed and cozy together. At the
same time they also keep you warm and are great for the colder times. You can pick anything knitted here - a sweater, a vest, a cardigan. Even a
knitted dress with leather jacket could do the trick! Various combos can be
formed with these two and they all look fluffy, comfy, sweet and charming! Want
to go warm and in style at the same time – this is your trend.
Picture perfect: Black leather pants with white knitted cardigan
– just like in the magazines!
3: Fringe/macramé+leather
Again as boho chic as
it can possibly be – fringed accessories
match perfectly with
leather. They also fit great with other materials, but there’s something magical about this particular
combo! Leather jacket, pants, dress – they all welcome warmly
fringe elements. Whether on the item
itself, or on a top/blouse/jewelry, they look amazing combined. Fringed suede items also look gorgeous with leather. Huge bonus is they make you feel like a rock star (or at leat I do feel that way). A magazine cover chic style
for sure!
Picture
perfect: Black
leather jacket wih suede fringes on the sleeves – the most amazing item ever created!
2: Ballet tutu+leather
jacket+sports shoes
What’s not
to love about this one! It’s
fashion-forward, ultra trendy and every designer appreciates it. This combo is straight from the runway. Ballet tutus create strong impression and mixed with sports shoes for additional punk glam they definately work wonders. Also leather jacket with a tutu is as classy as a LBD itself. These items are must-haves in every trendy girl's wardrobe. I adore this combination because it carries charm and sophistication,
at the same time it
is relaxed and feminine to the core.
Picture
perfect: Black ballet tutu, red leather jacket and platformed sneakers - high fashion indeed!
1: Lace+leather
You just
can’t go more classy& sassy then this combo! Lace is tender and beautiful,
feminine and sophisticated. Leather, on the other hand, is the rule breaker - sexy, fun, hqardcore, brings the naughty
out of its wearer. Together they make the most
amazing "opposites attract" combination ever. A mixture of temperaments and styles, the In and Yan of fashion. Alluring, provocative, bold and totally gorgeous. I view a combo like this as a sign of greatness, skillfulness and mastery in styling. So there is a strong reason I made this my number 1.
Picture
perfect: Lace dress and a leather jacket and boots - all black. How sexy and stylish is that?!
